Sophie's first passion is animal behavior; teaching is her second. Sophie's rich academic experiences coupled with her love for teaching enable her to deeply understand and help dogs & their owners.
Sophie's interests in animal behavior began with her first "problem dog", an aggressive Doberman mix. After years of studying behavior and many collaborations/mentorships, Sophie developed strong skills to effectively train her own "problem dog" and others as well. Sophie studied extensively under renowned veterinary behaviorist, Dr. Sophia Yin, and she is also strongly influenced by Jean Donaldson and Dr. Karen Overall. Sophie has trained dogs for rally obedience, agility, competitive obedience, therapy work, and more.
As an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, Sophie worked extensively with veterinarians in clinical, laboratory, and private home settings, handling & training a wide variety of animals, including: rodents, rabbits, chickens, cats, dogs, and horses. Sophie also taught 4 semesters of "Applied Animal Behavior" and worked in an animal cognition research lab. Sophie is now a veterinary student at Cornell University and will pursue behavior medicine as a specialty. She is especially interested in dog aggression and loves all things science!
